The Crow River Rebellion was blessed to be a part of the 3 day festival. We usually request to be the sound check opener on Saturday morning.
Livin is a great event.

This video is a sampler. The goal was to NOT use high buck recording gear and a light show. Just show what the band does.

I was honored to record with Zak Norton, Bronson Bergeson, Matt Hertel at Minnehaha Studios.
All of the tracks were done direct with a USA Peavey Millennium 5.

Audio begins around 11:30. We were honored to be on the Folk Alliance International Showcase. Signal is Fishman Piezo/Shaller Magnetic into K&K Preamp. The downfire 110 custom cabinet is fired by a GK MB200. Most of the recording is ambient through wash mics.
The following is a Becker Acoustic Upright with Corelli Strings. Pickup system is K&K Max & Fishman Full Circle though a K&K Blending Preamp. Amplifier is GK MB200 direct to the board.
This is a perfect example of a live event. Gear is a GT7 into MB200 with a Peavey Custom Shop Nashville Enclosure. The recording is done on an Ipad2.
The attached is a phone bootleg of a non-rehearsed amateur event. Gear is a Conklin 7 into TC Elecronics BG250 Amp DI to the board where they compressed it. The recording is done on a mobile phone.
The following is a Becker Acoustic Upright with Corelli Strings. Pickup system is K&K Max & Fishman Full Circle though a K&K Blending Preamp. Microphones are a mic of dynamic and condensers.
The following album was recorded at Luxumburg. This is a Becker Upright with Eurosonic strings. The recording is a combination of a K&K pickup and ambient room microphones.

Random bootleg of a church service. This is a live recording from a "rock and roll" church service. We had minimal preparation and was mostly improvised. Gear is a BD-GT7 into MB500 with a Peavey Custom Shop Nashville Enclosure.

Thanks to Brother Isaiah for posting this. Simple GK MB500 and custom cabinet (no PA Support).
I believe the recording device is an android phone.

This recording is a bootleg phone of an Ergo custom 5 String electric upright through a TC Electronics BG250. This is ambient bass - no PA support. The female vocalist was an last minute audience member. Recording is done on a telephone.
This recording is a Conklin Sidewinder into a TC Electronics BG250. We especially enjoy it when someone is SnapChatting a photo invitation to one of their friends. Recording is done on a telephone.
This clip is from a guest fill in gig. A client demanded "Sweet Caroline" so I stepped in to fake it - zero prep.
This clip is from a live outdoor gig. Bass and vocals are dry to a Bose ToneMatch mixer - direct to a computer. The Taylor guitar is dry. Backing vocals are through a Digitech harmonizer.
The following "naked" track is a simple 3 piece band real-time/unedited recording. The bass is a Peavey Millenium with round wound stainless strings. The Guitar is a Les Paul Studio into a Line6 and the Drums are Roland Vdrums. All are direct to a Lexicon Omega.
When folks ask me what two basses are the "best deals," I always say a USA Millennium or TL-5. With a ton of searching you can commonly find one for $300. This track is just a quick stereotypical recording of techniques bassists will rarely ever use (chord and melody). My apologies for the hiss - was done on a phone.
Periodically, I'll receive requests for fretless. This bass is a German carbon fiber neck through fully parametric Schack. Recording is a one-take direct to DAT.
Acoustic Upright works best, when there's a professional sound engineer around. This is my Carved European Acoustic Upright with a K&K BassMax direct to the board. This is a live deck recording from the board.
Mike Bruno recorded this song directly to a 6 track recorder. The bass is a Peavey Cirrus.
Periodic requests come in for recording improvised acoustic tracks. This was tracked with a Godin A6 - direct to the board. The Michael Muilenburg tracked the second acoustic and Mandolin.
The common question is about the last verse. Wynand is from South Africa. He sings in Afrikaans (a Dutch dialect).
To make things easier for you, here’s a listening list that you can shuffle. The streaming quality is better with a purchased subscription on iTunes, etc.
The following is a Becker Acoustic Upright with Corelli Strings. Pickup system is K&K Max & Fishman Full Circle, Schaller Magnetic though a K&K Blending Preamp. Ambient SM57s and condensers for "room."
It was so fun to be with Brian on the 106 show.
We had way too much fun and hope the FCC was not summoned to invistigate.
